Oh, Florida. Never change.
Meet Alexander Lefort, a 30-year-old FedEx employee who took “desperate for attention” to a whole new level. According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, this guy allegedly shot himself in the stomach, blamed it on a mysterious hooded stranger (who definitely didn’t exist), and then—because why not—lied about having cancer to win over a female coworker.
The Plot Thickens (Because of Course It Does)
Back in March 2024, Lefort told cops he was just minding his business, cleaning up a spilled soda in his car (very responsible), when suddenly—BAM!—a masked man shot him and ran off.
But here’s the thing:
- No witnesses.
- No footage of the shooter.
- And, oh yeah, the bullet matched his own gun.
Cops quickly realized his story had more holes than a Florida swamp after gator season.
The Stalking Side Quest
Turns out, Lefort had been allegedly harassing a female coworker—leaving creepy notes on her car and sending texts like, “I know you’re sleeping with him again. He is trash. You’ve been warned.” (Romantic, right?)
When confronted, he denied everything… until cops showed him the surveillance footage. Oops.
The Cancer Lie (Because Nothing Says ‘Date Me’ Like a Fake Terminal Illness)
In a truly bizarre twist, Lefort allegedly told his crush he had cancer—because nothing wins a woman’s heart like a sympathy play, right? Except… he didn’t have cancer. At all.
When detectives asked him about it, he said, “Nope, never been diagnosed.”
The Arrest (Finally)
After a year of investigation (and probably a lot of facepalming from law enforcement), Lefort was arrested and charged with:
- Lying to cops
- Tampering with evidence
- Discharging a firearm in public (into his own stomach, no less)
He posted a $4,000 bond, because Florida justice moves at the speed of an alligator on a hot day.
Moral of the Story?
If you’re going to fake a shooting, at least make sure the bullet doesn’t match your own gun. And maybe—just maybe—don’t lie about having cancer to impress someone. Just a thought.
Stay weird, Florida.
