Oh, Florida Man. Never change.
Meet James Rix Jr., a man who clearly has a sense of humor—or at least a T-shirt that does. While speeding at nearly three times the legal limit in Marion County, this legend was caught on dashcam doing his best Fast & Furious impression. But here’s the kicker: his shirt read, “I’m the Reason the Beer’s Always Gone.”
Spoiler alert: He was absolutely the reason the beer was gone.
When the deputy tried to pull him over, Rix decided to channel his inner NASCAR driver, turning off his truck’s lights and attempting a getaway. Unfortunately for him, Florida cops have seen this movie before. He was quickly caught, and body cam footage revealed the stunning twist—he was drunk. Shocking, right?
The deputy reported smelling alcohol on his breath (probably because, again, beer’s always gone), and Rix failed the sobriety test harder than a college kid during finals week. But the real crime here? Wearing a shirt that basically confessed to his crimes before he even opened his mouth.
At the jail, his breath samples came in at .204 and .200—more than double the legal limit. At that point, his shirt wasn’t just a statement; it was a receipt.
Rix now faces charges for DUI, fleeing from cops, speeding, and having an open container in his truck. Moral of the story? If you’re going to commit crimes, maybe don’t wear a T-shirt that makes the police’s job easier.
Then again, this is Florida. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
